Understanding the result
PDF page boxes define document geometry: MediaBox is the physical medium, CropBox is the visible viewing area, BleedBox defines the clipping boundary for bleed art, and TrimBox defines the finished intended product size.
Bleed margin is computed as (BleedBox width - TrimBox width) / 2 and (BleedBox height - TrimBox height) / 2.
Box presence alone does not verify artwork graphics: this tool verifies whether PDF box dictionaries are properly defined in metadata, not whether raster artwork extends to the bleed boundary.
Important limitations
- Password-protected, damaged, or unusually complex PDFs may not load.
- Keep a backup of the original document and verify the downloaded file before relying on it.
- The tool inspects structural PDF dictionary boxes; it does not scan raster content or vector paths to verify that color extends beyond the trim edge.
- Non-standard or corrupted PDFs lacking basic page dictionaries may fail to parse.

What is the difference between TrimBox and BleedBox?
TrimBox defines the intended final size of the printed page after cutting. BleedBox defines the clipping boundary including bleed allowance for cutting tolerances.
What does "TrimBox defaulted" mean?
Under PDF ISO 32000-1 specifications, if a TrimBox or BleedBox is not explicitly defined in the page dictionary, it defaults to the CropBox or MediaBox.
Does this tool guarantee my images have bleed?
No. The tool verifies that the page boundary boxes are correctly established in the PDF metadata. You must still visually confirm that artwork elements extend to the BleedBox.
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. All PDF inspection is executed 100% locally in your browser using client-side JavaScript.
