About Video to MP3 Converter – Free In-Browser Video Audio Extractor

Extract crystal-clear MP3 audio from any video container directly inside your browser without uploading your footage to third-party servers.

Supports all standard video recordings, screen captures, phone clips, and presentation recordings in MP4, WebM, QuickTime MOV, MKV, and AVI containers.

Choose custom bitrates from 96 kbps up to 320 kbps studio quality with instantaneous local processing.

How the calculation works

Container Demuxing

The single-threaded WebAssembly engine parses container headers, separates video frame packets, and isolates the raw audio stream.

LAME Audio Re-encoding

The isolated audio stream is decoded and re-encoded using libmp3lame at your specified target bitrate (96, 128, 192, 256, or 320 kbps).

How to use this tool

  1. 1Select or drag-and-drop your video file (MP4, WebM, MOV, MKV, AVI) into the conversion card.
  2. 2Select your preferred MP3 bitrate (192 kbps recommended for balanced fidelity and size).
  3. 3Click Convert to MP3 to initiate local WebAssembly decoding and encoding.
  4. 4Download your extracted MP3 file immediately when conversion completes.

Understanding the result

The extracted MP3 file retains the full duration and channel layout (stereo/mono) of the original video soundtrack.

Video frames are discarded completely, typically resulting in a file size reduction of 85% to 95% compared to the source video.

Output MP3 files are compatible with every standard audio player, smartphone, editing DAW, and transcription software.

Important limitations

  • Audio Quality Ceiling: Re-encoding cannot restore frequency ranges if the source video audio was heavily compressed or distorted.
  • Browser RAM Usage: Large 4K videos with long durations consume browser memory while loading; files are capped at 500 MB.
  • Local Files Only: Cannot download or scrape audio from external streaming URLs.

Frequently asked questions

Does this tool upload my video to a server?

No. The entire conversion process occurs on your computer or phone using WebAssembly. Your video remains strictly private.

What video formats can I convert to MP3?

We accept MP4, WebM, QuickTime MOV, MKV, AVI, and FLV containers containing standard audio streams like AAC, Opus, Vorbis, or PCM.

Will converting a video to MP3 degrade the sound quality?

Encoding to MP3 is lossy. However, selecting 192 kbps or 320 kbps produces audio that is virtually indistinguishable from the source soundtrack for human listeners.

Can I convert phone video recordings (iPhone/Android)?

Yes. QuickTime MOV files from iPhones and MP4 files from Android devices are fully supported.
