About Puppy Growth Predictor: Adult Weight Range Calculator
Estimate your puppy's future adult weight range from current age, weight, and mature breed-size category.
Because puppy growth trajectories differ dramatically between small and giant dogs, the model applies size-specific growth-progress curves.
How the calculation works
Growth fraction curve
Determines the approximate percentage of adult weight reached at the puppy’s current age in weeks.
Estimated adult weight & range
Adult weight = current weight ÷ growth fraction. A size- and age-adjusted uncertainty band provides lower and upper estimates.
How to use this calculator
- 1Enter the puppy’s age in weeks (between 4 and 104 weeks).
- 2Enter the puppy’s current weight.
- 3Select the expected breed-size category.
- 4Review estimated adult weight, lower/upper range, and growth percentage completed.
Understanding the result
Small dogs achieve most of their adult frame by 9–10 months (40–44 weeks), while giant breeds continue filling out through 18–24 months.
Uncertainty bands are broader for very young puppies (< 12 weeks) where small fluctuations represent a large percentage of body mass.
Important limitations
- Individual genetics, sex differences, litter size, and caloric intake cause meaningful variation.
- Mixed-breed puppies with unknown parentage may not follow a single purebred growth curve.
- This is an informational projection, not a substitute for veterinary developmental monitoring.

Frequently asked questions
How accurate is a puppy growth predictor?
It provides a helpful planning range based on validated breed-size growth milestones, but individual puppies experience non-linear growth spurts.
At what age do puppies stop growing?
Small dogs typically finish growing between 9 and 12 months, medium dogs around 12 months, large dogs at 14–18 months, and giant breeds at 18–24 months.
Can I enter weight in kilograms or pounds?
Yes. The calculator uses direct unit-preserving math, so your results will match the unit entered.
Is my puppy's information stored?
No. Calculations run locally in your browser.
